Sophie Thibault holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a certificate in information and journalism from the Université de Montréal. Her career really took off in 1988, when she entered TVA. After years on the ground, she was asked to read the news during the Oka crisis in the summer of 1990. She became a relief reader for Salut, Bonjour! And the 6 pm and 11 pm ballots.
In 2002, she became the first woman in North America to be appointed as the head of an evening news bulletin. Her professionalism, natural empathy and way of presenting information make her a favorite reader in Quebec. She is at the helm of the VAT 22 hours from Monday to Friday.
Since 2003, Ms. Thibault has been actively involved in the benefit activities of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. She is the spokesperson for the Carnation Campaign and in 2011 launched a new activity that raised over $ 500,000 in five years: Monique Thibault's Motorcycle Hope Tour Deceased mother who was struck by the disease for 52 years.
Winner of numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Merit of Broadcasting, from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, she received 9 Artist Trophies as a Personality of the Year (2003) and Best Presenter of a News Bulletin. She is decorated with the title of Chevalier of the Order of the Pléiade of Quebec, handed over by the National Assembly.
Since 2012, Ms. Thibault has developed a parallel career in photography. She is offered a photo chronicle in the magazine Le Monday, then in La Semaine. She signs the cover page of the biography of designer Philippe Dagenais, the cover of the DVD of Qi Gong by Nicole Bordeleau. In 2015, twice, Gosselin Photo is organizing an exhibition of its photographs in Laval and Quebec for the benefit of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. His preferences: the animal, the birds, the landscape, the macrophotography. In 2016, off the beaten track: Diane Dufresne offers him to immortalize the inaugural exhibition at the Center of arts of Repentigny which bears his name. Staged in her installations, in the heart of her creative universe, she has offered several unique paintings that have been exhibited and a catalog.
In July, another exhibition was organized by the gallery Iris of Baie St-Paul, in duo with the renowned painter Besner. And a photo book is being prepared for Éditions de l'Homme, which will be released in November 2016.
