Jean-Francois Racine

Collection: Jean-Francois Racine

Born in the hustle and bustle of 1968, Jean-François Racine grew up amidst the Quiet Revolution, the Cold War, and the birth of the Estates General on the Environment. His career initially led him to a degree in graphic design, then he pursued political science before becoming an artist and a committed citizen in his community.

Today, convinced that changing the world begins with oneself, he uses his art as a tool to raise awareness of beauty and Nordic identity. Winter has a huge impact on him—and on the planet. The so-called "ski painter" uses his skis to move toward his favorite subjects, using his boards as an easel. For the artist, the mountain is a fascinating subject. Generous, it offers the most beautiful subjects. For many cultures that venerate it, the mountain symbolizes the meeting of heaven and earth.

Jean-François Racine exhibits in several art galleries across Canada. For the 2010 Olympic Games, he presented a powerful exhibition of 36 paintings depicting the highest peaks in British Columbia in Vancouver, Sun Peaks, Vernon, and Nelson. In April 2012, he participated in a cultural exchange and two exhibitions in Sakai and Kyoto, Japan. He is a co-founder of Forces Avenir and sits on the selection committee for the Art, Lettres et Culture prize at the national university level. He is also a member of the selection committee for the International Symposium of Contemporary Art and a director of the Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-St-Paul.

The painter stands out for his honest and totally unique approach. Over time, art lovers and collectors have come to realize the heritage value and exceptional quality of his collection.
