Benoît Simard was born in Lac St-Jean in 1942.
A pianist in his early years, Benoît Simard studied and taught psychology before devoting himself solely to his art at the turn of the 80s. One perceives the mystery before his works and one also perceives the influence of his years of work in psychology.
He represented Canada at the Cagnes-sur-Mer International Painting Festival in 1990 and was at the National Biennale of Fine Arts in Paris in 1993. On the occasion of Quebec City's 400th anniversary, he exhibited 21 paintings inspired by Quebec songs.
He has been part of some forty exhibitions in France, Italy, Australia, New York...
His extravagant character and dynamism make him an inspired and inspiring artist!
