Born in Montreal in 1966, Danielle Champoux began her relationship with art at the age of nine by participating in her first drawing competition. Anecdotally, she was disqualified by the judges who believed that she was not the creator of her own drawing, considered too beautiful and too well done for a child of her age!
Two years later, she was noticed by her teacher, who gave her an artistic training from 1977 to 1981 and saw in her an innate talent for painting. At the age of twelve, she sold her first paintings, which were commissioned pieces. At the age of fourteen, she exhibited in a collective at the Old Presbytery in Saint-Bruno. These were her first works praised by the spectators of the time. But life, including a marriage, a family life with two children and a career as a beautician, temporarily limits her in her artistic production momentum. For fifteen years, she practiced her profession as a beautician in conjunction with her career as an artist.
In 2010, following a reunion with childhood friends turned artists, the creative flame is rekindling. She then devotes all her energy to producing works in search of a style that will reinvent the way of painting flowers, a subject so often exploited. Textures, colours, a reinvented technique, a clean style, will make Champoux's work a completely contemporary approach to such a timeless subject.
