Diane Desmarais was born in Hull in 1946. She graduated from the Montreal School of Fine Arts in 1969. Over the years, her paintings became established thanks to the sensuality of her subjects: filiform, androgynous characters, contorted, combined with her mastery of the material and the strength of her compositions. Diane Desmarais' paintings plunge us into a territory of shadow and light, truth and lies, love and hatred.
She is interested in the complexities of inner life, which she seeks to put on the canvas. Diane Desmarais has participated in solo exhibitions, duets and groups. Over time, her taste for travel and adventure allowed her to exhibit his paintings on four continents. Her works are part of several private and public collections around the world.
