Gail Descoeurs was born in Montreal in 1962. She was introduced to painting by her father, with whom she spent part of her childhood drawing through fields and forests and as to where she felt at peace and harmony. When, at the age of 17, she appropriated her father's easel and began to paint, she discovered her passion for art. But it was only in 2006 that she devoted herself entirely to art, after having practiced the profession of mechanical drafting.
She resides in the countryside, close to nature from where she draws her inspiration. In her studio, guided by her heart, she uses fragments of her own photographs, dreamlike scenes, memories and her imagination to create colorful and dramatic scenes. She succeeds by her mastery of realism and by her ability to simplify her observations to establish in her works an impression of immobility and to situate them out of time.
Gail's works create an atmosphere of great peace and makes us all long to be there in real life.
