Since his childhood, art has exerted a real fascination on Gérard Lapointe. This interest was first manifested by drawing. Very early on, he developed a great skill in this field that led him to want to realize his artistic aspirations through painting. Supported by a natural curiosity, his training allowed him to approach art with a wealth of knowledge that helped him to use a very precise and methodical development strategy.
Gérard Lapointe first practiced a completely different profession. However, his passion for the artistic field was such that he made his debut in the early 1980s. Since then, brushstrokes have not counted.
For this man, one can accurately perceive all the subtleties of colors only by going on the motif, that is, by painting outdoors. His gaze stops at peaceful panoramas and country scenes where the spontaneity of the moment plays to transform the objective reality of the subject into a more personal vision. It is in the interpretation of the colors and in their arrangement that he affixes his signature. Although there is a certain vigor in his paintings, there is a poetic sense and a certain serenity, borrowed from the magnificence of each season.
In his pursuit of excellence, he never ceases to enrich and perfect his technique and his art through specialized readings, research and above all by the continuous experimentation of new forms and subjects.
Since painting is for him an expression of the soul in his creative process, Gérard Lapointe wants above all to address the mind through the power of the image and thus provoke emotion. As a result, he seeks to identify a sense of the universal from nature or the subject matter to initiate a dialogue with the viewer beyond the actual plastic expression, which constitutes an ideal to be attained.
