Born in Quebec City in 1949, Guy Paquet, while leading a very complete sporting life that married him to nature, chose to devote himself to painting.
The silence and depth of his infinite horizons, his way of making us feel space, fascinate the public and the critics very early on. Since then, he has been refining his art, and he is essentially focused on a magical realism in the treatment of the landscape. His work is full of signs of modernity that he interprets in an inimitable way. Huge, expansive spaces where you get lost in, often cold colors; but always in the distance, usually very small, there is a soft, warm, inviting light promising a welcoming home...like Guy's charming warm smile.
Since the art renowned town of Baie-Saint-Paul, which introduced us to the artist through the glider of the 1982 Symposium, the magic of Paquet continues to spread through the great galleries of Canada: his audience is moved unconditionally, because with Paquet, it is the satisfaction of the search for the essential.
Today Guy Paquet is within the high ranks of other contemporary painters, the future masters who have made a mark in the history of art.
