Louis Tremblay

Born in Baie-Saint-Paul in 1949, Louis Tremblay, whose father was a close friend of the painter René Richard, grew up in a setting and an atmosphere conducive to developing and perfecting a talent that would lead him to live from his painting at a very young age. 

A respected member of the Institute of Figurative Arts, his reputation quickly became established through thirty exhibitions, representation in the country's major galleries, the choice of prestigious collections, and the participation of numerous symposiums. 

A tireless woodsman and prospector in search of the unexplored landscapes, Louis Tremblay follows with respect and admiration the trace of these views painted by Gagnon, Brymner, Jackson and Richard. Such masters make heirs and Louis Tremblay, eager to continue the story, will also set a milestone in this story through his creative talent and his spirit of research. 

LA NORDITUDE FOUNDATION - In 1997, Louis Tremblay, Bruno Côté (1940-2010), Jacques Hébert, Paul Tex Lecor (1933-2017), Marcel Fecteau and St-Gilles, six of Quebec's best painters, teamed up to create a collection of paintings illustrating the Norditude that characterizes our country. Their association has since evolved into a Foundation whose main purpose is to promote the protection, conservation and development of Canada's northern environment and parks, as well as to participate in the funding of scientific research applied to these territories, while respecting the ecological integrity of the sites concerned. 

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEDAL - In 2015, the Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, Laurent Lessard, presented the National Assembly Medal to the six painters of the La Norditude Foundation in recognition of their contribution to wildlife projects in Québec.
