Pierre Bouchard is originally from Lac St-Jean. He studied advertising and cartooning. He created a few animated films, four comics and then illustrated and published fanzines. Parallel to these practices, he became interested in contemporary art and began to create works in a self-taught way. From 2008, his production was more constant and he exhibited his paintings for the first time in 2009 under the pseudonym Newjoecool. This is followed by numerous other exhibitions and fairs where themes and concepts follow one another.
Pierre is of two worlds, first there is the work of Pierre Bouchard, he explores on standard canvas classic themes such as nature, birds, fish, fruit or hockey which are drawn from experiences in his life. Conservative in subjects but modern in the treatment of the image, his paintings are clean, the colors bright and the gesture spontaneous. And there is often an addition of words to the aerosol and stencil. Pierre Bouchard experiments and uses graphite, watercolour, arcrylic, oil, charcoal and or aerosol in his paintings.
On the other side of the mirror is Newjoecool, another identity with which he expresses himself. Linked to the discovery of graffiti in 2008 and the desire to express himself with this art language. The invention of a mascot character is necessary (a bear), which is then repeated and repeated on walls, and painted on wood scraps found in the street. This Newjoecool style is more wild, spontaneous and contrasts with Pierre Bouchard's more applied and thoughtful art process.
