Robert P. Roy was born in Sherbrooke, Qc. He developed an interest in drawing and painting at an early age. After a long reflection, hesitating between a career in art or science,he opted for engineering studies at the University of Sherbrooke. During his studies, he took evening classes in painting and kept a great interest in the arts.
In 1995, he won a prize at the Pierrefonds Art Competition and was selected for an honorable mention in 1997. He obtained his first solo exhibition in 2005 at the Avenue Art Gallery in Montreal. He has been a member of the Kirkland Artist Association since 1998 and was named Artist of the Year in 2006.
In 2008 he won a second prize in the prestigious Rêves d'Automne in Baie St-Paul, Charlevoix.
His paintings represent a continual search for form, color and movement which are always present in his paintings. Robert P. Roy is represented in various galleries in Quebec, Montreal, Toronto and White Rock in British Columbia.
