Serge Brunoni was born in 1938 in Lagny-en-Barrois, France. After the Second World War, difficult living conditions forced him to leave school at the age of 14 and to go work in a factory. Between the ages of 20 to 23, he did his military service in French Equatorial Africa. Back in the metropolis, he misses the great outdoors of Africa and so decides to move to the vast open spaces of Canada. He settled in Trois-Rivières in 1963.
Self-taught artist Serge Brunoni remembers that, from an early age, he always drew and appreciated the complexity of colors. He made his first works in 1970 and held his first solo exhibition in 1976. Since then, he has made several exhibitions in various galleries in Quebec, in Ontario and in France. He had a very personal European touch which has influenced many young artists.
He died in early 2020 after a career of nearly 50 years.
