Stephanie Gauvin was born in the Eastern Townships, Quebec in 1970. She demonstrated a talent for the visual arts from an early age which was encouraged by her family and teachers. After graduating from Cegep de Sherbrooke with an art degree in 1989, Western Canada challenged iher spirit of adventure. Passionate about mountains and skiing, she moved to a small, picturesque village in British Columbia and started a family while developing her art. She has been a full-time artist since 2003.
Her paintings reflect a unique approach and a personal style that have been defined over time. Focused on landscape painting, this energetic artist's work reflects her love of nature. Her brand is imbued with the bold use of the composition and by the exuberant choice of color in its warmest tones.
''I work as I live, that is to say with pleasure above all. My openness to life and the recognition of the present moment allow me to be authentic and reproduce this energy in my works. Working in my studio or on site in nature, I illuminate the scenes with a vigorous color palette. In search of spontaneity with each brushstroke, in the gradation of hues and the vibration of color, I aim to arouse emotion rather than perfection in detail. When a work evolves well on the canvas, I have a feeling of euphoria. My brush turns into a magic wand... what a dedication!''
Constantly driven by a thirst for learning, Stephanie Gauvin regularly attends various workshops given by eminent Canadian painters.
