Janusc Migacz

Collection: Janusc Migacz

Janusz Migacz was born in Gdansk, Poland, in 1956. After completing his studies at the Ggynia High School of Fine Arts and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown, he became a student of the great Polish painter Kazimierz Ostrowski. He remained in his studio for five years.

In 1986, Migacz moved to London, where he observed and studied the paintings of the great masters, such as Rembrandt, exhibited at the National Gallery. He then moved to Quebec in 1988, where he quickly became a success among art lovers.

"I have a preference for bodies in motion, those that articulate themselves according to figures developed for dance, for example." Migacz explores the world of soft and violent contrasts of light and shadow. Oranges, yellows, ochres, and browns predominate, encircled by lines of green or black. Migacz's pictorial universe sensitively translates the expression of human passions through the body.

Janusz Migacz's work is part of prestigious private and corporate collections in Quebec, Poland, London, Paris and the United States.
