Margo Genest

Collection: Margo Genest

Margo Genest is a sculptor-artist from St-Nicolas, a small village in central Quebec. Her childhood was steeped in classical music, and from a young age, she studied piano and violin at the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec. This training, coupled with a passion for creation, was the beginning of an artistic sense that has guided her ever since. As an adult, she lived for nearly 20 years in northern Quebec, where her creativity was fueled by nature and wide open spaces. Then, life brought her back to the big cities where she discovered the world of sculpture at the Saydie Bronfman School of Fine Arts in Montreal.

Her education and classical training contribute to constantly bringing her back to the essence of things, beings and events. This way of being generates a refined artistic production, often marked by a strong verticality of movement that she admits is instinctive. This artist is recognized for her technique based on tin, a luminous material that brings out the sobriety of the lines and the very essence of the subject. The hand finishing and patina give a unique and spontaneous character to her works.

Margo Genest has exhibited in several European countries, as well as in Los Angeles in 2011, when she represented Quebec at the "Quebec in Hollywood" event aimed at promoting Quebec culture abroad. She was also chosen to create a thematic work for dignitaries at the G7 Summit held in La Malbaie in 2018.

The artistic universe being the only one where everything is possible, it is through creation that she expresses her freedom of thought and action.
