Corno

Collection: Corno

Joanne Corneau was born in Chicoutimi in 1952. After graduating in Fine Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal, she embarked on a career as a painter. By the late 1980s, she had become a favorite among Montreal collectors and was one of Quebec's most sought-after artists. Her reputation spread across Canada, and she was one of the most respected artists in the country.

Building on her success, Corno turned to the United States, where she made her debut at the Morgan Gallery in Boston. New York City beckoned, and she moved there in 1992. It was a new beginning. Following in the footsteps of Georgia O'Keefe and Salvador Dali, she exhibited at the Steuben Glass Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York. The new millennium brought Corno to the Opera Gallery in Soho, which began to represent her enthusiastically. Within just a few years, she had become one of their most sought-after contemporary artists. Her works were now permanently exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Venice, Monaco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, and Dubai.

Corno's international success is phenomenal. His New Expressionist style, combining meticulous figurative details, has a bold, contemporary resonance. His colors, combined with intense textures and generous brushstrokes, tickle the eye. The international list of museums, corporations, and public and private collections continues to grow across several continents. Among several international recognitions, let us mention only the collaboration with the Lancôme company, which commissioned him in 2012 to create a canvas to illustrate a cosmetics line.

Through hard work and perseverance, Corno rose to become one of Quebec's most famous artists. And she always encouraged young artists to do as she did, to follow their dreams because sometimes dreams do come true... She sadly passed away in 2016, at the height of her fame.
