Collection: Marie-Andrée Leblond

Born in 1978 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Marie-Andrée Leblond became interested in drawing at the age of twelve and began teaching herself oil painting at the age of fourteen.

At 18, she found herself forced to pursue studies to earn a living. “I studied commercial illustration, but it was very stressful and there wasn’t enough freedom for me,” she explains. “Afterwards, I won the audience award at the Brossard Spring Visual Arts Festival in 1999, which caught the attention of Gilles Brown of the Clarence Gagnon Gallery, where I exhibited in October of that year. Funnily enough, when Gilles looked at my portfolio, he thought I must be at least 55 years old. When he saw me for the first time, he asked me why my mother, the artist, wasn’t with me. I told him I was the artist, and he was very surprised.”

Marie-Andrée Leblond's first opening was a resounding success: the entire production sold out within three hours. And the success continues.

She has traveled to the United States, Europe, and Africa, as have her works. Recognizing her potential and with great ambition, she always wants to learn from her work. Today, her paintings are mostly acrylics and water-based inks, a technique she has adopted for the richness of the colors.
