Collection: Normand Boisvert

Normand Boisvert was born in Trois-Rivières in 1950. He began by drawing because he loved and knew how to draw. Then, he moved on to portraiture, which was the logical progression. He then experimented with watercolor and pastel.

It was in 1970 that he discovered and experimented with oil. He began to produce landscapes and rural scenes in which the influence of the great Canadian landscape painters and Impressionism can be recognized. Portraits and still lifes are also very present in his work.

The artist is recognized above all as a sensitive and expressive landscape artist. Inspired by his stays and escapades in the regions of Charlevoix, Île d'Orléans, and his native Mauricie, his talent is expressed to convey joy and passion, far from dark colors and gloomy feelings.

His often wintry landscapes and the life that inhabits them betray his passion for hockey and a nostalgia for the winter games of his childhood. Urban scenes from old Quebec City or his native Trois-Rivières, the wild landscapes of Quebec, and still lifes coexist with rural landscapes in his work. The paintings remain marked by his strong brushstrokes and intense light.

With a career spanning some fifty years, Normand Boisvert remains a painter whose unique signature and distinctive style are recognized. He has no intention of stopping, especially as demand for his paintings continues in Canada and is spreading to Europe.
