Pierre Bédard

Pierre Bédard was born in 1960. At the age of fifteen, it was already too late to turn back and change the course of destiny: Pierre Bédard had just been bitten by the insect that transmits the incurable virus of artistic creation. Once an artist, always an artist!

After completing a professional course in photography, Pierre enrolled in CEGEP where he began studies in visual arts, which left him wanting more. While he didn't enjoy art education in general, he admits that the studies gave him a broad understanding of art and culture.

His works contain a part of realism, but a realism sifted through, remodeled, fantasized “à la Bédard”. He admits to having long ago evacuated all forms of reasoning in favor of a spontaneous, automatic painting. A work unreflective in action but which nonetheless reveals a solid mastery of color and composition.

With Pierre Bédard, painting becomes gourmet, gustatory through its rich texture: “It’s like a cook with his spices. And I add spices!”
