Collection: Raynald Leclerc
Working with oil and a spatula, he always paints on location, faithfully capturing the variations in light throughout the seasons. While he primarily paints landscapes of Quebec, he does not hesitate to travel to discover other horizons and sources of inspiration.
Raynald Leclerc's work has constantly evolved throughout his artistic career. In the early 1980s, the painter Christian Bergeron would be an early influence, introducing him to knife painting. Francesco Iacurto would also influence his early years with the importance of contrasts and the vibrancy of colors.
He then became interested in the Impressionists and took a particular interest in the work of Claude Monet. In 2010, he produced a series of paintings entitled "l'île d'Orléans" and thus established some principles that can be found in his work at this time. The painter no longer observed objects and their shapes, but the play of light on these objects and in these shapes.
Since 2011, his interest has focused on Post-Impressionist painters. Tracking down the masters of the late 19th century, he is particularly interested in the work of Vincent van Gogh. Between 2013 and 2014, Raynald Leclerc undertook three trips to Provence where he produced several sketches that he brought back to his studio in Quebec. Inspired by his Provençal itinerary, he painted a series of paintings that were exhibited in Quebec and France.
Today his paintings are exhibited throughout Canada.
