Collection: Sophie Thibault

Sophie Thibault holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a certificate in information and journalism from the Université de Montréal. Her career really took off in 1988, when she joined TVA. After years in the field, she was assigned to read the news during the Oka crisis in the summer of 1990. She became a relief newsreader for Salut, Bonjour! and the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

In 2002, she became the first woman in North America to be appointed anchor of a late-night newscast. She helms TVA 22 heures from Monday to Friday. Her professionalism, natural empathy, and way of presenting the news make her one of the most appreciated newsreaders in Quebec. Over the years, she has won 9 trophies at the Gala Métrostar and Artis for personality of the year (2003) and best newscast anchor.

In 2012, Ms. Thibault devoted herself to a new passion: photography. She became a photo columnist for Le Lundi magazine in 2014, then for La Semaine magazine. In 2015, Gosselin Photo organized an exhibition of her photos in Laval and Quebec City to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. She obtained various professional contracts (restaurants, business cards, boutiques, yoga studio). She designed the cover for Nicole Bordeleau's Qi Jong DVD, as well as the cover for the book about the life of designer Philippe Dagenais (Ma vie en 3D).

Recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including the Order of Merit in Broadcasting, awarded by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, she is decorated with the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Pléiade du Québec, awarded by the National Assembly.
